Fund Your Club By Winning

You Win. Your Club Wins.
$1000 to Each Month’s Grand Prize Winner’s Film / Video-Making Group

What would your club do with $1000? If you win the Grand Prize, Reel Insights will donate a thousand dollars to your club!  Does your club need new equipment?  Money to advertise your club’s film festival? Funds to rent a room for screenings?

Your group can this award up to three times a year.

Your club might be affiliated with a college, a school, a city or might be independent. But it must be dedicated primarily to making films, documentaries or videos, and not be a for-profit enterprise (i.e. we don’t award this to MGM Studios or Acme Professional Films, Inc.).

Important Facts about This Funding:

  • Contestants must put down the name of the group when filling out the Contest Entry form.
  • The group must be primarily dedicated to making videos, documentaries or films. (For example, The Documentary Makers Club of Chicago would in all likelihood qualify, whereas the Chess Club of Houston would not — even if they once made a video!)
  • The group must be pre-existing (at least six months before the contest begins), with at least seven active members.
  • The group must be not-for-profit OR educational in focus. Amateur and small interest groups are not expected to have official non-profit status, other groups should be.
  • The group leader(s) must pledge that the funds will go to group activities and not into individual pockets.
  • Various opportunities for Hometown Anthropologists may be tweeted or otherwise made available besides our monthly contests. This money-for-your-club program is only for winners of our monthly contest (you’ll know it’s the monthly contest because the Contest title will begin “December 2009:” etc.).
  • Contestants must not try to game this system. If a “club” appears to us to be faked or even be presenting half-truths of what they really are (hey, we know the Glee Club isn’t primarily dedicated to making films!), we reserve the right to not only deny funds to this organization, but to disqualify the winning entry in the contest and award the Grand Prize to another contestant.
  • This last point shouldn’t cause you to shy away from entering a legitimate club. Reel Insights is eager to support the work of bona-fide filmmaking clubs and groups, particularly those which foster the incredible work of our Grand Prize winners!
