Overview
As our tumultuous decade draws to a close and new one opens, are people hopeful, fearful or what, exactly? With your camera rolling, find out: speak to people in your community and uncover what they’re feeling and why. Beyond their hopes and fears, what do they actually expect to happen in the coming ten years? Create a video that reveals, intrigues and flows.
Guidelines
- Speak to people on streets, in their homes, at school, at work. Anywhere you choose.
- “Community” might mean your family, friends, neighbors, people in your town or city, school or workplace. Your call.
Suggested Areas of Exploration
- People’s hopes and fears for themselves and their families and why. Uncover specifics.
- People’s hopes and fears for their country and their world and why. Uncover specifics.
- People’s balance between hope and fear – are they optimistic or pessimistic about what the next decade will bring (for themselves, for their country, for the world)? Why?
- People have their hopes and fears, but what do they really expect to happen during the coming decade? Why?
- How do they expect people will be different in December 2019 than they are in December 2009? Why?
- You might want to include discussions (debates?) between optimists and pessimists to add interest and tension.
NOTE: Your video does not need to cover all these suggested themes or questions. You’ll need to focus in some way – maybe on hopes, on fears, on predictions, on the personal or on the general (country or world). Your choice.
